Shetland Sheepdogs History at Skyestar

Hi — I’m Ariana!  

I’ve loved Shetland Sheepdogs for nearly 28+ years. My first Sheltie, Skye, came from Carol Craswell of Kelbren Shelties, and later came Star, from Yvonne Halkow of Willowglyn Shelties. Together, they inspired the name Skyestar Shetland Sheepdogs.  

Winnie, Ch Zesta Star In The Skye NS, came home in 2023 from Zesta. She was brought to her Canadian Championship by Jenn DeBoer and my daughter. Winnie also got her Novice Sprinter Title under my daughters handling.  She is currently taking a break from her Grand Championship journey to become a momma.  

Our second Zesta Sheltie, Ch Zesta Dare To Be Bold NS NR, joined us in 2024. I handled Phoebe to her Canadian Championship, as well as her Novice Rally and Novice Sprinter titles. Phoebe is focused on achieving her Grand Championship title and advancing in Rally and we hope to do more herding in 2026.  

Since welcoming Winnie and Phoebe, I’ve become involved in conformation, rally, sprinter, lure coursing, and have started training in herding and agility. I’m also proud to be a board member of the Edmonton Shetland Sheepdog Fanciers Club (ESSFC) and a member of the Canadian Shetland Sheepdog Association (CSSA), and of course the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC).  

I’ve loved discovering all the activities you can do with Shelties, and I’m excited to keep learning (it really does take a village).
