Shetland Sheepdog Health: Meet Winnie

Can Ch Zesta Star In The Skye NS

(Ch Zesta Time To Shine X Ch Zesta Intensified)

May 4th, 2023

Winnie, our beloved Sheltie, joined our family in 2023 from Jenn & Gabe DeBoer and Laura Thompson of Zesta, quickly becoming a cornerstone of Skyestar Shelties.

She earned her Canadian Championship in 2025 under the skilled handling of Jenn DeBoer and has also achieved her Novice Sprinter title with my daughter — a milestone that makes her especially meaningful to our family.

Winnie is a lovely, feminine Shetland Sheepdog with a clean outline and easy, balanced movement. She approaches her work with a willing and steady attitude, making her a joy both in and out of the ring.

At home, Winnie is affectionate, intuitive, and deeply connected to her people. She is happiest being part of whatever is going on — whether that’s traveling, training, or simply relaxing at home. She adapts easily to new environments and takes everything in stride.

Winnie represents everything we value in the breed — soundness, temperament, and partnership — and we look forward to continuing her journey. Fully CKC Registered.

The Red Deer Kennel Club 2024 was one of the shows that Winnie competed in and did well with her young handler. These two are quite the amazing pair, and Winnie would do just about anything for her person. It is a lot of work to get these fluffs ready for the show ring and I am grateful for Jenn DeBoer for helping teach us the ropes. You will see Winnie more in showing again for the end of 2026.

Novice Sprinter Titles 2025 for both girls! They were dirty by the end of it all, wind and rain blown and so very happy! Even in the weather, with the dogs having so much fun it is hard not to just smile along with them!

Winnie thought Sprinter Trials were just the best thing ever! Thank you to ALCA for the introduction and such a fun set of events! I had no idea this was out there and I am so glad I do now. Winnie we knew was fast ... but it was so neat to watch actually how fast she was, and that she only improved each run once she realized what the 'game' was!

This little potato fluff came into our lives at the very best time! Thank you to Jenn DeBoer of Zesta Shelties! Winnie helped patch a star shaped space in her persons heart, adding her small paw prints over the hurt. Zesta with Winnie, introduced us to the dog show world and all the cool things you can do with your sheltie! It was all such a steep learning curve that we happily absorbed as it is fun to just do things with your dog! Winnie is my daughters shadow for sure, they are joined not only at the hip but in their hearts.
